The Philadelphia Marathon is under a lot of new changes for 2016 (new race management, new course, new days added) and now they are adding one more thing for this year. Runners will have shuttles to get them to and from the weekend of races! Shuttle bus service is available on both Saturday and Sunday mornings for both runners AND spectators from all local area hotels.
A majority of hotels will have dedicated buses for the morning pick-up, and on the return hotels will be grouped together post-race. (Note that race participants will receive priority boarding over spectators)
Below is the bus schedules for the race in which you are participating:
Saturday, Half Marathon & 8K
First bus pick-up at hotels will begin at 5:30 a.m. and continue as buses fill. Buses will loop to race checkpoint entry and back to hotels. Last bus will leave the hotels at 6:30 a.m. There will be only ONE pick-up time for the airport hotels. Buses will leave airport hotels at 6:15 a.m.
Rothman 8K and Kids Fun Buses will depart the Philadelphia Marathon Expo at the Pennsylvania Convention Center on Saturday, November 19 beginning at 9:00 a.m. Buses will drop Kids Fun participants off at 24th Street & Pennsylvania Avenue. Buses will run on a continuous round-trip loop until 2 p.m. The last bus will leave 24th Street & Pennsylvania Avenue at 2 p.m.to return to the Convention Center.
Sunday, Philadelphia Marathon
The first bus pick-up at hotels will begin at 5:00 a.m. and continue as buses fill. Buses will loop to race checkpoint entry and back to hotels. Last bus will leave the hotels at 6:00 a.m. There will be only ONE pick-up time for the airport hotels. Buses will leave airport hotels at 5:30 a.m.
Not staying at a hotel? You’re in luck!
If you’re coming from New Jersey using the PATCO Hi-Speed Line you should walk to the Doubletree Hotel at Broad & Locust Streets to board the shuttle bus. If you are using the Broad Street Subway or Market/Frankford El you should go to the Courtyard or Residence Inn Hotels on the east side of City Hall to board a shuttle bus.
Hotels within the Logan Circle area will not have shuttle bus service.
After the Race
As runners complete the race, beginning at 9:30 a.m. each day, buses will leave River Field (24th Street & Park Towne Place) to take people back to the hotels or train stations. The return trip will combine several stops on the loop. Return buses will run continuously, with the last bus leaving River Field (24th & Park Towne Place) at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 19 and 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 20.
