Upcoming Philly Races With A Huge Influence On Beer

It is widely known that beer and running go hand in hand. It is our personal opinion that no other city embraces that thought as much as Philadelphia does. Chance are if you have run a majority of races in the Philly area (and are of age) you have received a complimentary beer post race. While one beer after a race is fine, what about races that celebrate the beer running culture?

Well you are in luck! Here are a few races that do a little more than just hand out one beer after you cross the finish line. The fall is jam packed with races that truly appreciate beer and running!

Upcoming Races:

September 10th & 11th: Red White and Brew Run. The word “Brew” is in the name. So you are sure to enjoy a cold one at this event. And the best part is, it’s a two day festival! Either choose the 5K on Saturday or go for the Half Marathon on Sunday. Immediately following the runs, be sure to visit the beer and wine festival for food, drinks and entertainment!

September 10th: Flying Fish 5K . What better way to run for beer than running at a brewery!?! The Flying Fish 5k starts and finishes from Flying Fish Brewery in Somerdale, NJ.  It is timed perfectly for the release of the 2015 GABF Silver Medal winning Oktoberfish Fest Beer. So, this is guaranteed to be a party.

September 17thPints In The Square: Beer Fest + 5K. This event will take place at The Ellis Preserve in Newtown Square on Saturday September 17th. The 5K will start at 11 AM, with the Brew Fest beginning shortly after at 12 AM. With breweries like Yards, Founders, Conshohocken, Cape May, Flying Fish and more you will not want to miss this event.

October 9th: 5,000 Yards Dash. The Inaugural 5,000 Yards Dash is a race celebrating the best of local craft brewing, specifically the Yards Brewing Company. This unique 5,000 Yard (not meter) race will have food trucks and live music at the finish as runners race along the Delaware River waterfront (the first race approved to run along Penn’s Landing). A unique Craft Beer glass will go to all finishers and every adult finisher will receive a free Yards beer to celebrate their run!
