New races in Philly are always fun. Sure we love our Philly Marathon, Broad Street Run, Rock ‘n’ Roll Half, etc. But remember the excitement around the Philly 10K or The Love Run Half Marathon? Well here is a new one to get excited about!

On Saturday April 23, 2016 Philadelphia will be introduced to the Schuylkill River Relay & 50K. As the tagline says, this is “The Race that Celebrates your Trail”

The Schuylkill River Relay 50k is poised to become the premiere 50k relay in the region and it encourages you to Run, Relay, & Relax while celebrating your favorite trail– the Schuylkill River Trail!

Run…

This beautiful course is entirely on the Schuylkill River Trail!  The 50K race starts and finishes near Lock 60 in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.  It runs along the canal and river, through Valley Forge National Historic Park, all the way to Conshohocken, Pennsylvania where runners turn around to return to the party. 

Relay…

Choose your own adventure! Run the 50k solo or on a team of three (3) or six (6) runners.  The relay legs average 5-6 miles.  So, it is approachable for most runners. But, those looking for the 50k Challenge can take on a goliath and go it alone!

Running as a team is the recipe for fun as teammates drive from exchange point to exchange point to support their runners. No place inspires inside jokes better than being jammed in a car with four of your stinkiest friends!

Relax…

The race finishes at the Schuylkill River SPREEKEND party with Sly Fox Brewing Company. SPREEKEND celebrates the Schuylkill River Trail and the release of the 2016 SRT Ale with a live music festival from 3:00pm-10:00pm!

Developed as the perfect accompaniment to outdoor activities, SRT Ale is the Ale for the Trail! SRT Ale encourages people to Bike it. Run it. Walk it. Hike it. Paddle it…Enjoy it because, because every outdoor adventure should end with a great beer.  Flowing from the refreshingly rural to a modern metropolis, the mighty Schuylkill River is a hidden gem for the residents of Southeastern Pennsylvania and visitors to our region and this beer is a delicious tribute!

In appreciation of the diverse recreational activities and natural splendor that the river offers, Sly Fox Brewing Company created the SRT Ale—a golden, hop-forward American Pale Ale and a salute to the beautiful Schuylkill River Trail. Best of all, a portion of the proceeds of SRT Ale benefits the Schuylkill River Trail through the Schuylkill River Heritage Area.
